In an interview with VH1, Mike Dirnt remarked "We've had a nice break from making hard and fast music [and that] has made us want to do it [again]. What once was old is now new again." So for those of you who longed for the return of the Green Day of old, you'll get it possibly next year. So far seven songs have been written for the new CD and three more are almost finished. The band hopes to get the album out by the end of 2002 or early 2003.

Green Day released a new album which is a compilation of B-sides and un-released stuff called "Shenanigens" on July 2nd, 2002.
